In Short: The Sea Devils rounded off the weekend with another conference win over the Johnston Community College Jaguars.

Highlights:

After taking a week off of gameplay following their most recent win over another conference opponent, the Sea Devils came out of Saturday's matchup on top over the Johnston Jaguars. The overall pace of the game started off pretty slow on both ends of the court with the first quarter ending in a 12-14 lead in favor of the Jaguars. Freshman Kayleigh Shreffler did her part coming off the bench to try and shake things up - bringing energy to the game and fighting for rebounds, turnover attempts, and shot opportunities.

The Jaguars team only had 5 active players to participate in Saturday's game, which the Sea Devils eventually took advantage of in the second quarter by running the ball and becoming more physical under the basket to both tire our the Jaguars and put more points on the board. However, the Jaguars arrived in the Schwartz Center with intensity and forced the Sea Devils to up their game if they wanted to finish with a win.

While the Sea Devils still struggled to contain the Jaguars on the defensive side of the ball, they started off the second half of the game with a higher sense of urgency and were able to pull out a solid lead as the third quarter progressed. By the time they reached the fourth quarter, the Sea Devils were back to their usual style of play - forcing turnovers and setting each other up for as many shooting opportunities as possible.

"I think this game was an eye-opener for us that talent isn't good enough to win games," says Head Coach Trae Bryant. "The hardest working team is always going to win. We have to be the hardest working team every game."

Up Next: The Sea Devils return to the Schwartz Center on Friday, December 17th as they take on Southwest Virginia at 6 PM.
