Arise mighty Jaguars and defeat the foe

Fight, Fight, Fight and never be still
For we'll never give in, until we had our fill
On the prowl mighty Jaguars
Let's fight, fight, fight
For we are striking swiftly tonight
We'll raise our colors, silver and royal blue

Frequently Asked Questions about the

Johnston Jaguars Dance Team

Q: What is the time commitment like?

A: We practice on average 6 to 10 hours per week throughout the entire year. When special events start to come up we often schedule extra practice time. On average we perform and attend at least 25 basketball games as well as various other athletic events, performances, parades and pep rallies.

Q: Does the team practice in the summer?

A: Yes. We generally have a few practices in the summer for workouts and to begin prepping for events like New Student Orientation, Athletic Orientation and Welcome Back week just to name  a few. The summer schedule will be announced shortly after tryouts when the official team has been announced.

Q: What if I want to tryout for the team, but I cannot make it to the spring auditions?

A: You will have to wait for fall tryouts which occur in late August of the upcoming fall semester.

Q: Does the Johnston Jaguars Dance Team compete?

A: At this time the team does not compete because we are recognized as club under the JAG Crew Spirit Program.

Q: Once you make the team, are you on it for good?

A: No. When you make the team, you become a member until the first day of the next spring tryout. The entire team must then re-tryout in spring. Before spring tryouts, the current team votes for captains for the following season. The captains run spring tryouts and do not have to re-tryout themselves.

Q: Are we responsoble for acquiring our uniforms for the team?

A: Yes. Since the Johnston Jaguars Dance Team is a club at the college, you are responsible for the purchase of your uniform. We actual have fitting for the new squad during or immediately after tryouts. Our uniforms come from Varsity and are custom made to represent the Johnston Jaguars.

Q: If I do dance team, will I have time to participate in anything else?

A: This totally depends on you. Dance takes up a considerable amount of time, but many of the girls on the team are involved in other groups on campus, hold part-time jobs, are in honor societies and take 12 credit hours or more. If you are organized and focus, you can be in other extracurricular activities.
