Hollis "Jay" Creecy

Coach Creecy comes to JCC after a 2-year stint as Assistant Coach at Saint Augustine’s University of the CIAA in Raleigh, NC. Prior to SAU, Coach Creecy has 12 years’ experience as High School Coach at Knightdale HS in Knightdale, NC and at his alma mater Gates County High School located in Gates, NC.

A 1997 Gates Co High graduate, Coach Creecy was a standout on the basketball court and football field earning All Area, All Region, and All Conference Recognition in both sports and was a highly touted 2-sports recruit out of the northeastern NC area.

Creecy moved on to play basketball at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga after injuries cut his Senior season short, and stayed there for one season before transferring back to NC to North Carolina A&T State University. After 2 years of battling reoccurring knee injuries Coach Creecy gave up competitive playing and shifted his focus to mentoring, training, and coaching others.

After graduating from North Carolina A&T in 2001, Creecy, a Licensed Counselor with Wake Co Schools relocated to Raleigh. Creecy then begin coaching and academic advising with one of the most prestigious and long-standing Grassroots organization in America, The Garner Road Basketball Club based in Raleigh. Coach Creecy’s resume reads as a “Who’s Who” of basketball out of the Raleigh area over the last 15 years as he has coached and mentored numerous student athletes from the Triangle area at all levels. Coach has directly interacted, played a role in development, and coached student athletes who have matriculated to Division I, II, and III levels and on to several professional leagues abroad and the NBA.

Per Coach Creecy: The plan here at JCC will be simple, “help young men continue their education while giving them the opportunity to use basketball as a resource to move on to a four-year university an earn a degree. The mission is to enhance their chances to become a productive adult, using the sport of basketball to shape minds and develop lifelong character traits that translate to life “Once the Ball stops Bouncing

Coach Creecy is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and resides in Raleigh with his wife, Brittina and daughter’s Jordyn and Hollyn.
